story 279. bye for now.

a few days have now passed

since our first staging of Two Golden Hours.

we were so delighted by the enthusiastic response of our guests & their enjoyment of our unique retail event

of escape & beauty. 

thank you so very much to all those who helped us bring our vision for this event to life: 

 to our lovely visitors who attended from far & wide, 

to those who generously assisted promotion both online & in print, 

to our dear family & friends for their unwavering encouragement (& manpower on the day!)

to our musicians who set the atmosphere,

to our guest designers who brought a sense of community &

of course, to Yandina Station for providing such a stunning location (oh & very yummy cream teas!)

as the perfect stage for Two Golden Hours.

we are slowly contemplating what might be next:

as a pop-up shop, we believe the appeal lies in impermanence,

the opportunity to create a truly intriguing space

which exists only for a short period

& the anticipation of when, where and how

we will ‘pop-up’ again.

a sneak peek of the

Postale Society display

at Two Golden Hours

last weekend.

we were quite delighted

at the response to the project.

the notion of hand written correspondence

to your own personal postale box,

seems to speak to people,

tickling a yearning for

intimate connection.

story 276. exhale.

its funny when you're working on a big goal

how the date of the event becomes a kind of

end of history.

nothing is planned for the 'other side'

as if the calendars will stop on that day.

of course,

the next day does come

& with it a strange sense of disorientation

devoid of lists, tasks & clocks.

filling that space

can be unsettling.

yesterday I chose to gather my thoughts

& exhale

in the quietude of new farm park

(one of my favourite places)

amongst the rose gardens

awash with winter sun.

& it was good.

two golden hours turned out to be

a wonderful success, we were quite amazed at the

remarkable response we received to our first event.

despite the forecasts,

the rain stayed away & the sun found a way through.

will be back soon with photos & more details

from a very golden couple of days.

in the meantime, Pia has posted

about her book launch held in Brisbane

some weeks ago;

you might even notice the paper map garlands

I made for the event.

thanks to Pia & Kylie for hosting such a lovely afternoon.

 

 

 

 

story 274. little faces.

after release of the postcards for Two Golden Hours,

there has been a bit of talk

about those featured ceramic dolls.

after much searching high & low,

we have managed to secure a shipment of

antique german ceramic dolls heads

excavated near an old doll factory, circa 1860 - 1900.

all different, many with cute little hats.

 

definitely a little odd & rather quirky,

we think they’re rather special nonetheless.
